When Peanut was a baby I began creating a collection of memory verse songs to help her hide God’s word in her heart. I knew it’d be a long time before she could actually memorize and sing them, but as a music teacher I knew that even hearing the lyrics as a baby would eventually impact her memory later. By the time she was three we were incorporating Bible verse songs into our Encompass Preschool Curriculum, and then when she was four she started memorizing Bible verses for our church’s Wednesday night children’s program. Each time, if I couldn’t find a song for a particular Bible verse, I made one up. As a result, I’ve composed nearly 100 Bible verse songs and recorded several along the way.
Since this month is all about spiritual sensitivity, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share a few of the Bible verse songs that I’ve written over the last couple of years just for the fun of it. While you can use these songs to help you memorize new Bible verses no matter what the age or situation, I would say they are most age appropriate for your 2 to 6 year old. Keep in mind they are definitely not professionally recorded (can we say iPhone?!). However, hopefully they are catchy enough for enjoyment and clear enough to help your child(ren) to learn new Bible verses in the process. Unless mentioned otherwise, all songs are taken from the New International Version of the Bible. Have fun singing!
